March 22 – April 15, 1991

New Paintings was a solo exhibition of recent canvases at the Greene Gallery in Bay Harbor Islands. The paintings of 1990 move away from the bright, crowded surfaces of the mid-1980s toward darker, layered fields of swirling line and muted color, where shapes surface and sink as if seen through water.

A brochure designed and printed by Zona Ltd in Bogotá accompanied the show, with an essay by the critic Giulio V. Blanc. Blanc placed the new work between abstraction and natural form, and read the Fossil paintings and Medusa as “mythic homages to the cosmic rhythms of creation and destruction.”
